Mite Release
Worksheet
Using this formula you will be able
to calculate how to distribute the
mites in grape vines. You can download
the formula with the Mite Release Worksheet
below.
- Release rate per acre: ___________
predatory mites/acre
- Number of
bean plants per flat: 250 plants/flat
(average)
- Number of predatory mites
per flat: 10,000 predatory mites/flat
- Mites per flat (10,000) ÷ Release
rate (___________) =
___________ acre/flat
- 250 plants/flat ÷ ___________
acre/flat = ___________ plants/acre
- Number
of vines per acre (___________) ÷ ___________
plants/acre = ___________
- Thus,
place a bean plant every ___________
vine to distribute throughout
acreage
Example
- Release rate per acre: 5,000 predatory
mites/acre
- Number of bean plants per
flat: 250 plants/flat (average)
- Number of predatory mites
per flat: 10,000 predatory
mites/flat
- Mites per flat (10,000) ÷ Release
rate (5,000)
= 2 acre/flat
- 250 plants/flat ÷ 2 acre/flat
= 125 plants/acre
- Number of vines per acre
(1,100) ÷ 125 plants/acre
= 8.8
- Thus, place a bean plant
every 9th vine
to distribute throughout acreage
